Inside Prince William and Kate Middleton's Family-Filled Summer With Their Kids
This photo of the royal family is worth moving mountains for.
Prince William and Kate Middleton recently turned the celebration of Mountain Rescue Awareness Day into an opportunity to share a never-before-seen family photo with kids Prince George, 13, Princess Charlotte, 11, and Prince Louis, 8.
“We send our heartfelt thanks to all those who volunteer their time and expertise to keep people safe in some of our most beautiful but challenging landscapes,” the Prince and Princess of Wales wrote in a recent post on their shared Instagram account. “Through our connection with this remarkable organization, we have seen first-hand the dedication, professionalism and compassion that define their work.”
But while shared for a worthy cause, the sweetest part of the photo was perhaps Charlotte and Louis’ twinning moment, with both siblings sporting navy blue and jeans. The 11-year-old, for her part, sported a sweater, while the youngest royal opted for a similar-colored polo.
George, meanwhile, proved he hit a summer growth spirt ahead of starting at Eton College, standing nearly head-to-head with his dad as he sported jeans and a gray polo. As for Kate, she embraced her sporty side wearing a baseball cap and brown puffer jacket, while William matched in a brown pullover sweater.
The moment appeared to have been captured over the summer when the family met local mountain rescue teams, with several joining in the photo, to “say thank you in person for the vital role they play in keeping walkers and climbers safe on the mountains all year round.”
“We are incredibly proud to support the extraordinary volunteers who respond in all conditions, often at a moment’s notice, to help others when they need it most,” William and Kate, both 44, continued in their message. “To everyone across the mountain rescue community, thank you for your unwavering commitment, courage and service.”

Around the same time as the meeting, the Princess of Wales was completing the UK’s Three National Peaks challenge in June, which saw her and brother James Middleton trek across the highest peaks in Scotland, England and Wales to raise money for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.
While sharing she was completing the physical challenge back in June, Kate noted it was important for her amid her recovery after her cancer battle in 2024.
“Lots of people have asked me why I’m doing this challenge and partly it’s personal,” she wrote in an Instagram post in June. “I’m so grateful to be here, to be strong enough to walk these hills. But more importantly it’s to give something back.”
Indeed, following her own battle, Kate wanted to champion the initiatives that help people fighting serious diagnoses.
“Through this challenge, I want to raise awareness for the deeper impact of serious illness and the importance of holistic healthcare,” the princess explained. “Every individual is different, and ensuring there is a whole person approach to care enables those living through cancer to manage the deeply personal challenge of diagnosis.”
