Natalie Portman Compares Her Pregnancy to “a Cleanse” in Rare Comments

The date night is strong with Natalie Portman and Tanguy Destable.

Nearly four months after announcing her pregnancy, the Star Wars alum stepped out for a rare public outing with her boyfriend in Paris Aug. 10.

For the laid-back date to the movies, Portman, 45, had her baby bump on display in a blue and white striped sundress and patterned navy shawl, while Destable, 46, sported a pair of khaki pants and white jacket.

Although the Oscar winner—also mom to son Aleph, 15, and daughter Amalia, 9, with ex-husband Benjamin Millepied—tends to keep her relationship with the French music producer out of the spotlight, she has been candid about her pregnancy with her third baby.

“I try and do some kind of physical activity every day,” she told Elle in an interview published Aug. 3. “I either swim or walk, and do gyrotonics. I’m still vegan. I take lots of vitamins. I try and sleep as much as possible.”

Plus, Portman emphasized how the pregnancy is helping her choose a healthier lifestyle.

“I also feel like being pregnant is almost like a cleanse because you don’t drink and can’t have caffeine,” she continued. “So I’m like, ‘Wow, I’ve never been cleaner in my life.’”

Beyond the benefit of being health-conscious while pregnant with her and Destable’s first child together, the Black Swan star has reflected on how “very grateful” she is to welcoming a baby in her 40s.

“I know it’s such a privilege and a miracle,” Portman told Harper’s Bazaar in April. “I grew up hearing about how hard it is to get pregnant. I have so many people I love who’ve had such a hard time with it that I want to be respectful around that as well. It’s such a beautiful, joyous thing, and it’s also not an easy thing."

Noting “how lucky it is,” she concluded, “I have deep appreciation and gratitude.”
