The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kano State Command, has arrested two suspected cattle rustlers while allegedly transporting a stolen cow in a vehicle.
The suspects, identified as 45-year-old Jamilu Saadu and 37-year-old Nura Abdullahi, were arrested at about 3am on Tuesday at a mining checkpoint along the Tudun Wada–Kiru Road, Rahama Round, in Kiru Local Government Area of the state.
The NSCDC said its operatives intercepted a Sharon Galaxy vehicle with registration number JJN 606 AE during a routine operation at the checkpoint.
According to the Corps, one cow was found tied down and concealed in the rear section of the vehicle.

In a statement signed by the Command’s Civil Defence Public Relations Officer, SC Ibrahim Idris Abdullahi, the NSCDC said two other suspected accomplices escaped after sighting the operatives.
“Two other suspected accomplices, believed to be the principal suspects, took to their heels upon sighting the operatives and are currently at large,” the statement said.
The Corps added that efforts were ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
The two arrested suspects are currently in custody alongside the recovered exhibits, including one cow and two machetes, while a thorough investigation has commenced.
The NSCDC said the investigation would determine the circumstances surrounding the alleged cattle rustling and establish the rightful owner of the animal.
The Command assured the public that the suspects would be charged to court after the conclusion of the investigation.
“Upon conclusion of investigation, the suspects will be charged to court and prosecuted accordingly,” the NSCDC said.
The Corps also reaffirmed its commitment to protecting lives and property and combating criminal activities across Kano State.
It urged members of the public to support security agencies by providing credible and timely information that could assist in preventing and tackling crime.
