Gombe United have officially appointed Eddy Lord Dombraye as their new technical adviser, according to a report from DAILY POST.

The club, known as the Savannah Scorpions, also announced the additions of Muniru Abdul-Azeez as Chief Coach and Abdullahi Abubakar as Match Analyst. The newly appointed trio will collaborate with the existing coaching staff to prepare the team for the upcoming 2026-27 campaign.

Dombraye brings significant top-flight coaching experience to Gombe United. He previously served as the manager of Lobi Stars and held various coaching positions with the Ukrainian club Arsenal Kiev.

Gombe United are scheduled to kick off their new season with an opening match against Jigawa Golden Stars. The 2026-27 Nigeria National League (NNL) season is set to begin on Saturday, October 31.

Why It Matters

The Nigeria National League (NNL) serves as the second tier of professional football in Nigeria, where clubs compete intensely for promotion to the top-flight Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL). Gombe United, a traditional club from northeastern Nigeria, has historically oscillated between these two divisions and seeks stability to return to the elite level. Appointing coaches with international and top-tier domestic experience, such as Dombraye, underscores the club's ambition to secure promotion in the highly competitive league structure.
