Authorities in Nigeria's Niger State have confirmed the discovery of a suspected improvised explosive device (IED) on the grounds of the General Hospital in New Bussa, located within the Borgu Local Government Area.
The device was spotted at approximately 11:20am on Wednesday, September 9, 2026. A local resident reported that a hospital security staff member initially noticed the object and immediately alerted conventional security forces.
SP Wasiu Abiodun, the Public Relations Officer for the Niger State Police Command, stated that Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) operatives were dispatched to the scene immediately after the command received word of the discovery. The specialized team successfully rendered the device safe, conducted a thorough sweep of the hospital grounds, and took the explosive into custody for further investigation.
