Members of the global girl group KATSEYE have offered support for fellow performer Sophia Laforteza as she prepares to rejoin the group following a temporary hiatus focused on her mental health and wellness.
Speaking to E! News at the 2026 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show on Oct. 18, group members Lara Raj, Megan Skiendiel, Yoonchae Jeong, and Daniela Avanzini shared their excitement about Laforteza's anticipated return early next year.
"We are so happy that she's coming back," Raj said. "We're so proud of her. She's really been so brave."
Raj emphasized the group's support for Laforteza's decision to step away. "We respect her so much for taking the space and taking time for her health," she added. "She's our sister, so we can't wait for her to come back."
Laforteza announced her temporary break two months ago. According to an Oct. 8 statement from label HYBE x Geffen Records, she is set to officially resume group activities during the first week of January 2027. Although she will not be joining the group on their Wildworld Tour, she is participating in promotional events during the remainder of 2026.
"Sophia has been prioritizing her health and well-being with our full support and resources," the label stated. "We are incredibly grateful to EYEKONS for the continued love, support, and understanding you've shown Sophia and KATSEYE. Thank you for standing by her, and we look forward to celebrating her return with you in the new year."
Reflecting on their journeyâwhich also saw member Manon Bannerman announce her own hiatusâSkiendiel spoke about the group's bond. "We've been through so much together, and we've built such a family together," Skiendiel said. "Being able to go through this journey with my sisters has just been the best experience of my life."
KATSEYE performed at the fashion show as they wrap up their world tour. "It's honestly amazing," Avanzini added. "A lot has been going on, but we're so grateful to be here."
Why It Matters
KATSEYE is a global girl group formed through a joint venture between South Korean entertainment company HYBE and Geffen Records following the competition show The Debut: Dream Academy. In recent years, major music labels and idol groups have increasingly supported official mental health breaks for performers navigating intense promotional schedules and international touring. Public statements regarding artist well-being reflect an evolving entertainment industry practice that acknowledges personal health alongside demanding professional schedules.
