Drone strikes hit key Ukraine-Poland supply route, sparking border fires

According to Ukrainian officials, a Russian drone strike triggered a fire at a petrol station near the Yahodyn–Dorohusk border crossing with Poland during the early hours of Sunday, 13 September.

Video footage captured near the border checkpoint showed active flames and dense smoke rising from the site as emergency firefighters worked to extinguish the blaze.

Why It Matters

The border crossings between Ukraine and Poland serve as vital corridors for humanitarian aid, civilian evacuation, and military supplies entering Ukraine from Western allies. Because Poland is a member of the NATO alliance, military actions occurring in immediate proximity to its frontier carry significant geopolitical sensitivity. Any disruption along these primary transit routes can impact the flow of essential goods and escalate regional security concerns.
